Our Mission
Imagine a job where you spend your days at work keeping people and property safe. Oh wait! If you're reading this, you most likely have that job and you know that feeling of satisfaction you get when all your work and planning pay off, and someone's life is saved. We know that feeling too and we're sincerely and honestly guided by a desire to help you protect yourself, your employees and your property. That is our mission!
To that end we have developed a robust mobile app which extends the eyes and ears of your security staff to every employee at your workplace and we back that up with a web based application that provides you with the tools needed to easily manage every aspect of our offering. From adding new employees to producing reports for risk and liability assessment or litigation defense.
Our History
We founded NeighborhoodWatchAlerts.com back in 2009 as a way to modernize Neighborhood Watch programs. Before we knew what hit us, we were being asked to carry alerts from virtually every Federal agency, several states and more county and city emergency management and law enforcement agencies than we could count. By 2013 we were taking in and redistributing over 3.4 million government generated safety alerts each year.
With all that exposure we were asked for a lot of new features and, although they were good ideas, they took us away from our core mission - supporting local Neighborhood Watch Programs and redistributing government generated public safety alerts down to the community level. We were so good that we could distribute alerts in an area as small as square block. That's a lot of math and a lot of experience!
In the end, FEMA called for a revamping of the Emergency Alerting System and the FCC mandated that cell phone carriers started putting alerts on cell phones so we sold the technology behind NeighborhoodWatchAlerts.com to a south American company who is working to create a Latin American version of the Emergency Alert System we have here in the USA. Our technology was the first step in their process.
After that sale (and some serious vacation time), we circled back around and looked at all the requests we'd received from corporations, government agencies & law enforcement. Most of the requests were specific to law enforcement and, frankly, some people were already working in those areas. However, there were a lot of requests that came from organizations that all had a lot in common and looked like this:
- A law enforcement department had a problem with gangs working the high-end mall in their jurisdiction. The gang started at one end and worked their way through to the other. Reports came in sporadically and by the time the information was assimilated, the gang was gone
- The Chief of Security at a metropolitan hospital encountered a lot of "follow on violence" where gangs would pursue a victim into the hospital. The same with victims of domestic abuse
- Military installations were asking for a way collecting and disseminating safety alerts to their military and civilian personnel and their on-base families
- Sports and concert venues needed a way for ushers to quickly report problems. Every try to report a fight between two drunks while a concert is in full swing? You'll not be using a radio for that!
- A resort hotel gets billed for 9-1-1 calls and needed an audit trail showing when and where alerts were received, who responded, when and if 9-1-1 was called and what the outcome was. A single slip and fall by a guest could cost millions in legal and settlement fees unless there is documentation.
- Active Shooter alerts in any venue need to be nearly immediate. In most facilities, people at one in of a building (or on different floors) won't hear gunfire at the other end. It takes a lot of steps to activate the alarms.
The list goes on and on and we knew we could use our extensive expertise to develop one app that would work in all those situations and TapToReport was born.
We have the history, the experience, the dedication and the technical expertise to build, maintain and support a technical solution that helps you meet your mission: Keep people and property safe!
